Soldiers’ and Sailors’  Memorial Arch
Grand Army Plaza, Brooklyn, NY

The architect of Grant’s Tomb ,John Duncan, designed the memorial arch commemorating Union forces that perished in the Civil War. Finished in 1892, the arch is crowned by MacMonnie’s Quadriga showing victory returning with the troops.  The arch towers over the oval, a fitting entrance to the splendor of Prospect Park.
